C02 Geological Sequestration

Assessing the safety and feasibility of sequestering carbon dioxide in geological formations while enhancing their storage potential.

Advanced modelling techniques can provide vital information throughout the lifecycle of a carbon geosequestration project. Our desire is to to see countless carbon sequestration projects take off, maximise their reservoir storage potential while minimising risks and leakage of C02. Below are some of the analyses that our modelling can shine a light on

  • Geological site selection & C02 storage potential
  • Optimising well placement & operation
  • C02 plume migration
  • Evaluation of C02 leakage rate & Caprock integrity
  • Carbon mineralisation potential (ongoing work)

Software

We cater our software solutions to the needs of the client, developing novel methodologies where necessary. Currently, our modelling capabilities make use of years development of academic and open-source codes. In particular, we can provide bespoke solutions as developers of Open-CSMP++ and the powerful Australian Carbon GeoSequestration Simulator (ACGSS), giving us a strong flexibility to match our clients requests. Furthermore, we utilise the high performance, multi-physics simulator GEOSX, developed at Stanford, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Total S.A to enable us to simulate a broad range of physical processes.
